General information

Enadoline is an opioid agonist at KOR (OP2, κ) receptors and has no effects attributable to MOR (OP3, μ) receptor actions, such as respiratory depression. However, enadoline does not offer any benefits over other currently available opioids. In a comparison of enadoline with morphine 10 mg enadoline 25 micrograms produced similar pain relief to morphine 10 mg, although of shorter duration; however, enadoline was associated with dose-limiting neuropsychiatric adverse events, which led to early termination of the study [ ].

In an 8-week in-patient study in eight cocaine users, enadoline and butorphanol failed to modify cocaine self-administration [ ].
