Anecortave acetate is an angiostatic steroid derived from cortisol but without glucocorticoid receptor-mediated activity. It has been used in the treatment of neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration [ , ] and in glaucoma [ ]. It tends to cause the sensation of a foreign body.
