Multiple hemodynamic, metabolic, and regional parameters are available to monitor the resuscitation of shock in trauma patients.
No single hemodynamic or laboratory parameter can be used to define the endpoint of resuscitation.
Traditional monitoring parameters are proven to be poor indicators of oxygen delivery secondary to compensatory mechanisms. These parameters include:
blood pressure (BP).
heart Rate (HR).
central venous pressure (CVP).
oxygen saturation (SpO2).
A combination of parameters should be used for the assessment of endpoint of resuscitation.
