Rare, accounts for less than 1% of all malignant mesotheliomas
Usually affecting older patients (mean age, 65 years); some pediatric cases reported
Association with asbestos exposure is weaker than with pleural and peritoneal mesotheliomas (30%–40% of cases for the former)
