D efinition —Benign squamous tumors caused by infection of human papillomavirus (HPV). In this chapter condyloma includes two verruciform variants: classic condyloma and fibroepithelial papilloma. A third, seborrheic, keratosis-like condyloma will be discussed separately.

Clinical Features

Epidemiology

  • Very common sexually transmitted tumors that are most commonly (~80%) caused by infection of HPV 6 or 11.

  • Approximately one million women are affected each year. Disease is most common in young, sexually active women.
