Definition

  • Primary tumors of the brain and spinal cord arising from arachnoidal/pial melanocytic cells

  • Melanocytoma: localized, low-grade, noninvasive

  • Melanoma: malignant, invasive, mitotically active

Clinical Features

Epidemiology

  • Very rare entities

  • Wide age range, but most occur in the fifth decade
