D efinition Hormonally driven benign morphologic alteration of the endocervical epithelium, most commonly associated with pregnancy or the recent postpartum state.

Epidemiology

  • Endocervical Arias-Stella effect may be seen in up to 50% of extensively examined gravid cervices.

  • Occasionally a rare, focal finding in nonpregnant women.
