Nonspecific granulomatous prostatitis


Definition

  • Mixed inflammatory response owing to extravasated prostatic fluid, bacterial toxins, and cell debris.

Clinical features

Epidemiology

  • Most commonly seen in the fifth and sixth decades.

  • Present in 0.5%–3.4% of prostate specimens, and accounts for approximately two-thirds of all granulomatous processes of the prostate.
