Dorsal Penile Nerve Block


Indications and Clinical Considerations

Dorsal penile nerve block is used to provide surgical anesthesia for circumcision, dorsal slit procedures, repair of penile lacerations, paraphimosis reductions, and the release of penile skin that is trapped in a pants zipper ( Fig. 143.1 ). Dorsal penile nerve block may also be used to provide symptomatic relief of urinary catheter-related discomfort and in the management of priapism.
